3 big things we’re going to do with the $25 million we raised for Series B

Blog_Artwork

We’re super happy to announce that we’ve closed our series B funding round, led by Insight Venture Partners. Insight is an awesome firm that shares many of our values, and we’re grateful to have them as partners on this journey of building a great company based on a great product. This round also includes further investment from our Series A investors, Genesis and Entree Capital.

2017 is shaping up to be an amazing year. We have big plans for the product and for our incredible community of customers. With your support and feedback, we’re able to constantly improve a product that we really believe in—a work tool that people actually love to use.

We’re now a team of 57 people working here at dapulse. We have more than 10,000 paying teams using our product. Given our current trajectory, we plan for all of this to grow, and fast. We’re hiring for dozens of positions and are always looking for talented people to join us. With an amazing team, incredible innovations to our product and community will follow.

Team

So what can you expect from us in the future?

We’re more committed than ever to building an amazing experience for our customers. We’ll be investing time, resources, and energy into every aspect of our operations, but for you, here are the tangible things you can look forward to in the future.

1. A phenomenal stand-alone mobile app

We love mobile and have already made a ton of improvements to our iOS and Android apps. Right now you can update dapulse and communicate with your team on your phone, but you still need to use dapulse on your desktop to build everything you want and need. There’s a huge opportunity for us to improve our mobile experience, so we will be focusing a ton of time and effort on it.

We’re going to take all the functionality you enjoy on desktop and build it into our mobile apps. That means the apps will stand alone completely. It’s an ambitious undertaking, as it’s never before been done at this scale. There are no mobile apps on the market that allow you to create and manage in-depth workflows on the tiny screen of your phone, so it will be cool to lead this initiative.

2. Killer integrations to different platforms

We currently have an API that allows anyone to build their own integrations. Additionally, we already include several built-in integrations, such as support for Google Docs, Dropbox, email, and calendars.

We’ve gotten a lot of requests to expand this, so we’re going to make a huge investment in building killer integrations with many different platforms. We’re going to start with Salesforce, Slack, and JIRA, so stay tuned!

3. A community to share tips and best practices

We currently have 2,000 members and counting in dapulse Addicts, our private Facebook group. It’s a vibrant community of evangelists, where people request features, provide honest feedback, and share best practices on how they use dapulse.

Our entire team of developers, designers, and product managers are active in this group, reading and replying to posts. It’s a very cool community where there’s a direct line of communication between our customers and the people creating the product.

Our plan is to take what we’ve done with dapulse Addicts and do something on a larger scale. We want to build a proper stage for experts in their fields to share the challenges and issues they’ve faced using dapulse, as well as the solutions they’ve found. We get tons of requests on best practices on a wide variety of topics, ranging from web development to marketing to event planning. If we can create a platform where everyone can share their best practices, we can create something really valuable.

We’re really excited to have a new partner and funding to continue building the next generation of work tools. And we’re happy to have such supportive customers to join us on this ride. As our CTO Eran Zinman says, “The best is yet to come!”

Very exciting news!!! Looking forward to the next gen of dapulse. Please keep making sure its affordable for the individual. 🙂

    • Thank you Naomi! We’re really looking forward to making dapulse even more robust, customisable, and simply… amazing for all teams around the world! Stay tuned for the big adventure 🙂

  • Michael Toi

Great news team DaPulse (you rock) – I think money well invested. DaPulse is easy to use, intuitive and flexible (we use it and love it). One thing we originally got it for was as an Agile project development and tracking tool – which we use but it isn’t quite there yet (and we have made compromises), maybe with a little thought and improvement it could really be the bomb – or is it that we need to change the way we think and do things? Not sure but can’t wait to see what $25m can do for this fantastic tool! All the best guys…

    • Yay Michael! You rock too, we couldn’t have accomplished it without our amazing community!
I’m here anytime to discuss your set up with you and make some improvements (and yes, expect dapulse to grow to a tool you’ll love using even more than now)

  • Chris Tarasovs

Congratulations! I have implemented your system in 3 companies that I have worked for ! Great job guys!

    • 3 companies? WOW! Thank you so much for being part of this exciting adventure with us 🙂

  • Fantastic news – as a start-up I know how much work this has been – how many years did it take from founders to 57?

    • Hey E! Thank you, we’re so thrilled about it 🙂 Dapulse was founded in 2012 as part of WIX, and launched as an independent startup in February 2014! From 2 to 57… and ready to welcome new faces, new talents 🙂

  • Tommy Tan

Congratulations! I deployed Dapulse on an enterprise level at my boutique investment bank over a weekend because I became frustrated at the lack of progress of a committee I set up to evaluate other off the shelf products like sales force and custom products for investment banking. It was easy to implement and

    • Tommy, thank you so much! My fav part about your comment was “I deployed dapulse over a weekend because I became frustrated” 🙂

Google Sheets indeed — we’ll work on tons of integrations, and will definitely make a request based on your insight. Regarding the ability to create custom triggers and actions within dapulse… I call it genius!

Stay tuned for 2017 — I promise it will be magical!

  • Craig Peters

How about making the timeline synch with the relevant pulse?

Or introducing dependencies so that when you shift one item they ALL shift accordingly.

    • Hi Craig! That’s a good question 🙂 Lots of things will come this year, and you can expect dapulse to adapt more to your workflows. Regarding dependencies, we aren’t big fans. Let me explain: dependencies are a lot of plumbing. For every task/project, you’ll have to manually state which other task this is dependent of — this turns you into a slave for the tool. We are more in favour of building a tool that works for you.

Also, dependencies mean a lot of meta data hoping it will protect and alert you that other tasks that are dependent on will be delayed or cannot be worked on at the same time. Because of that, people use it only for long term things, and most people on the planet don’t use it at all.

dependencies violate one of our product main principals – to create a tool that works for you – not having you work for it 🙂

However, stay tuned for new ways of working, for a better alternative to dependencies, and much more!

  • Ruthie

Congrats! We are big fans of dapulse here at Asurion. The Slack integration will be amazing!

  • Leonardo Vasconcelos

    Congrats!!!

Perfect approach, the professionalism of the Dapulse team and the feedback.

    • Thank you Leonardo! We’re super excited to create a product that will really change the way people work 🙂

  • Laura Worcester

I just discovered this platform for my creative marketing team – it’s awesome. We would love to see internal chat functionality. Thanks!

    • Yay Laura! Welcome! We don’t have a chat functionality, but we have a lil’ trick 🙂
You can create a forum-like board in your account, and rename the groups and pulse accordingly to your departments or topics, where each pulse would hold a “forum”. Makes sense?

We’re adding the feature request 🙂

  • Sebastian Schreiner

Congrats! Love the simplicity of the platform and advocating for the tool in our team.

Any chances you’ll integrate with box in the foreseeable future?

    • Thank you Sebastian! We might probably add this to our integration effort 🙂
      Stay tuned!

  • CJ

    Congrats! Sounds Great.
Are you also thinking about integrating a way to sum hours you have worked on a specific Task? And then calculate how many hours are left to solve the task. In adition to that it might be good to see the solved workload in a certain periode (eg. a week and changes to the week before) and also to see if the task is on time or over time or if ist going faster…

    Cheeers CJ

    • Thank you so much CJ! That’s something we discussed already, but not yet in the pipeline. I’ll go ahead and add your vote to the list 🙂

  • Jen Rice

Congrats your guys!! Very excited for you and what’s to come. Keep up the great work =)

  • Myles Davis

This is awesome news! Looking forward to seeing all the updates.

    • Yay Myles! We’re so excited to have this opportunity and build the most amazing tool the world has ever seen!

  • Daniel Jara

sound great! best of lucks! you know how to make the business growth

    • Thank you Daniel! We are thrilled and so excited to have been given this opportunity 🙂

  • Ryan Kassel

Congrats on the great news! I run a boutique IT company/MSP and (perhaps interestingly to a few) use dapulse to manage my recurring billing. Until I get this fully integrated into a PSA (Autotask) and Quickbooks which will take tons of work, dapulse has been a godsend and so much better than the GDoc I was using for this before. It’s been an easy/visual/intuitive way to manage constantly changing information (who owes $, CC out of date, date of renewals, products purchased, backup status, etc). Has saved me tons of cash over the last couple years simply by being able to stay up-to-date with these items in an easy way. A very versatile tool, highly recommended for so many different business needs! Cheers!

    • Thank you Ryan! I love that you see dapulse as a tool to manage everything 🙂
Cheers to your comment, cheers to the future!

  • Angel Lampreave Figueras

Hi, great product and terrific news!
But what about adding multiple language support, so other companies and people can enjoy this tool? Right now, for people not speaking English at all, it’s not a professional tool to consider, and believe me, in Spain, a lot of people would jump in if translated to Spanish.
Fresh capital should promote this type of enhancements, don’t you think?
I saw in https://support.dapulse.com/hc/en-us/articles/207229415-Is-dapulse-available-in-other-languages- that it’s not on the near future roadmap 🙁
    Angel.

    • Hi Angel! We’re actually working on creating videos and webinars in other languages (French, Spanish, Russian, and probably German). However, translating the tool will take much longer, and it isn’t coming right now 🙂

  • Brian Watkins

Great to hear guys!! Keep innovating and making it easier to do business in community…and we all win. Thanks!!!

  • Miguel Usuga

Congratulations!! Only a little request: It would be great to have dapulse in spanish… Thanks.

    • Hey Miguel 🙂 We totally understand! We are trying to ease the process of getting started in other languages with translated boards and webinars in your own language. Then, in the future… we’ll think about supporting other languages 🙂

    • Carlos Fernando

      YES PLEASE

  • Pauline Hincks

Wow! This all sounds amazing. Maybe a translator that can send it from one language to another, say if you are trying to work with someone in another country might be a good idea. I do love the program – like it more than Trello!

    • Hi Pauline 🙂 Automatic translation like we see on Facebook could be a cool workaround, right?
Happy to hear dapulse won your heart over the sea of competitors <3

  • Eleanne Hattis

Mazal Tov!! So great & so many exciting things to accomplish!

    • Yay! Thank you! We’re so excited and this year will definitely be the year of accomplishing many great things 🙂

  • Bussiahn

Hey guys so excited about these changes. They are everything we’ve wanted.

    • We’re just as much as you are! Thank you, and hold on to your seat for this adventure!

  • Stuart Graham

Some great news. I’d love to see import from csv/excel. Or even database access. Currently we transfer details from our ERP system to workshop task board by retyping but if we could just import a list of new tasks that would be very handy.

  • Haox

I’ve been going back and fourth so many platforms I lost track of. Implemented and changed at least 5 different ones in my company over the last few years, just to find you guys yesterday. I wish I have found it earlier!

Do you have any plans on implementing a instant chat feature inside dapulse? I think it is the missing feature to make it the ultimate collaboration tool!
